High Scores for IELTS
Here is a list of some words often used in English Vocablurary. The teachers searched many English books, magazines and other publications to find the most commonly used words. Don’t shock, you will get many of these words in your IELTS exam. Search this list of the words below.
IELTS Exam
To score high on the IELTS exam, it is very important that you can understand AND use these words. You must be able to understand these words in the listening section and the reading section of IELTS. Also, you must be able to use these words in the written and spoken sections. Follow the practical instructions and you can achieve high scores the next time you take the IELTS exam.
You need a notebook and three colored pens or pencils (eg blue, red and black)
Each day, choose five words from the list. ***Start with #1 (most frequent words) and work your way up to #10. *Remember that even #10 words are often found in English.
First note the definition of the word:
Ex. Analyze, an•a•lyse (verb): examine methodically and in detail the constitution or structure of (something, especially information), usually for the purpose of explanation and interpretation.
Next, write a composite or difficult sentence using the word. Use red to write the word (if you’re unfamiliar with compound and complex sentences, review this in your “Bonus Writing” section of

- Be sure to include yourself or someone you know in the sentence, it helps your memory.
- Be sure to make the phrase unique, interesting, funny, sad, scary, etc.
Ex. I had to analyze the spider that bit me because it looked very dangerous.
Day after 2 days later, summarize the sentence you wrote and keep the same or exact vocabulary in the sentence. Use a dissimilar color for this.
Ex. As the spider that bit me seemed poisonous, I needed to analyze it.
Make sure you keep doing this until your IELTS exam. AND be sure to read your sentences and check for errors.
