How to Cancel JetBlue Flight Ticket Booking & Reservations
Things to know about JetBlue Flight Cancellation policy:
Point to keep in mind before JetBlue Flight Cancellation.
- JetBlue Flight Cancellation within 24-hour: You can cancel your flight ticket within 24 hours of the date of purchase (provided that you booked the travel seven or more days before the scheduled departure date) and not be charged with the cancelation fee (regardless of the type of ticket purchased) Bookings that have undergone some changes are not eligible for a refund to the original form of payment and can incur a per-person cancelation fee, regardless of being within 24 hours of the original booking
- In case the ticket is canceled outside of one business day, you will be charged with the penalty fee
- The JetBlue Flight Cancellation of ticket is meant for flight credit only. This is valid within one year from cancelation
How To Cancel a Flight on JetBlue
Luckily, JetBlue makes the process to change or cancel your flight pretty easy. Simply visit its website and log on to your TrueBlue account. Once you’ve logged in click Manage Trips and select which flight you want to cancel from Upcoming Travel.

Changes and Cancellations on Nonrefundable Fares¹
There are no change/cancel fees on most fares, except Blue Basic.
All reservations made one week or more prior to a flight’s departure may be cancelled without penalty up to 24 hours after the reservation is made.
For tickets booked on or after June 8, 2021:
Blue Basic: Can be changed or cancelled for a $100 fee for travel within the U.S., Caribbean, Mexico or Central America, or $200 for all other routes (fare difference applies).
Blue/Blue Plus/Blue Extra/Mint: Difference in fare only.
Cancel Your JetBlue Flight within 24 hours
If your travel was booked seven days or more prior to the scheduled departure date, you have 24 hours from the time the booking was made to cancel your reservation without being charged a JetBlue Flight Cancellation fee. The entire booking must be canceled to qualify (not applicable for JetBlue Vacations reservations).
Bookings that have been changed are not eligible for a refund to the original form of payment and may be subject to a per-person cancellation fee depending on the fare booked, regardless of being within 24 hours of the original booking.

JetBlue Same-day Change & standby Policy
Same-day Change
JetBlue customers may make a confirmed same-day switch for a flat fee of $75 (no fare difference applies). A same-day switch can only be made on the day of travel, beginning at midnight in the time zone of your departing flight.
The same-day switch option is only available in cities with multiple flights a day.
JetBlue Same-day Flight Change Details
- Same-day switch is available for all fare options.
- You may adjust your travel to an earlier or later flight on the same day as your originally scheduled flight.
- You must travel between the same city pairs or, where applicable, in or out of nearby airports (see Different airport options).
- A same-day switch can be made beginning at midnight in the time zone of your departing flight and is only available on the same calendar day as your originally scheduled flight.
- Mosaic customers do not pay a same-day switch fee and can switch a flight beginning 24 hours prior to the originally scheduled flight time.
- Customers with refundable fares do not pay a same-day switch fee.
- TrueBlue redemption bookings are eligible for same-day switches.
- Interline bookings may be eligible for same-day switches depending on the circumstances and meeting the minimum connection times. Same-day switches to interline bookings can only be made by contacting JetBlue.
JetBlue Standby
Standby travel is based on seat availability, is not guaranteed, and, depending on your fare, is subject to an additional $75 fee (no fare difference applies).
In order to travel standby, you must have already purchased a seat on JetBlue. You may list standby on any sold-out flight between the same cities on the same calendar day as your confirmed scheduled departure.
JetBlue Standby details
- There is a $75 charge to list standby for all fares except Blue Extra. This fee is refundable if you are not confirmed on your standby flight.
- You may list standby at the airport prior to your original flight. Standby travel cannot be listed online or over the phone.
- You must travel between the same city pairs (i.e., you can be confirmed on a nonstop flight and travel standby on a connecting flight or vice versa, as long as the origin and destination cities remain the same).
- If you have an Even More® Space seat and choose to travel standby, you will forfeit the seat fee and not be eligible for a refund.
- Customers in cities with multiple flights can travel standby only on the same day. Standby is not available to customers departing from cities with one flight a day.
- Mint® customers may choose to travel standby but the Mint seat will not be guaranteed and will only be assigned if available. The $75 fee will apply and no refund of the Mint experience will be given if a core seat is assigned.
- Please note that to list for standby, only one person per reservation needs to be at the airport. However, to check in, each individual must be present.
- Mosaic customers and customers with a refundable fare will not be charged a fee to list standby.
- JetBlue travelers on Blue, Blue Plus and Mint fares will not be subject to any change or cancellation fees, provided the adjustment is made prior to the day of travel, with only a fare difference applying.
Blue Extra fares will continue to enjoy no change or cancellation fees, as well as free same-day switches. Fare differences will apply.
Travelers on Blue Basic fares will be allowed to make JetBlue Flight Cancellation & changes for bookings within the U.S, Caribbean, Mexico, or Central America for $100, or $200 for all other routes.
Same-day switches can be made for a $75 fee, without paying a fare difference. Mosaic members will be exempt from the same-day switching fee.
A $75 fee will be charged for same-day switches, though a fare difference expense will not apply.
Cancellation policies are parted into the following ways:
Cancellations within 24 Hours
Just like any other airline, JetBlue’s passengers are permitted to cancel their reservation within 24 hours from booking timings in order to request a full refund. No JetBlue Flight Cancellation charges will occur.
JetBlue’s Other Booking Terms & Conditions:
- Passengers are requested to make their bookings within one week or more, before the flight departure. A passenger who booked earlier or within one week is eligible for their cancellation within 24 hours without being charged.
- The cancellation fee is credited to JetBlue Flight Credit, valid for one year.
- There is also a ‘no show’ clause that says that if you do not show at the airport and don’t even cancel the flight, then all your money get seized
- JetBlue offers the following facilities to its customers for the canceled flight by the airlines:
JetBlue Full refund
- Re-accommodation on the succeeding available flight, without any extra fee.
- In case, the airline cancels any flight and is unable to avail customers of any alternate transportation within one hour then passengers are entitled to the compensation.
- JetBlue rejects fee-refunding for the delay, diversions, or changes due to any changes that are beyond airline control i.e. Any natural calamity say storm.
- Also, the passengers who meet any onboard delays are permitted to claim compensations.
- Refund Policies of JetBlue:
- There are two types of fares offered by JetBlue:
Non-refundable Tickets: The passengers can cancel their reservation before the departure time of the flight via the website or by contacting the airline, the concerned balance will be credited to your Jetcredit which can be used in the future I.e within a year of the booking date, else you will get your money seized.
Refundable Tickets: if the flight gets canceled from the PNR before the departure time, only then a full refund is permitted via JetBlue. Flights that are not canceled before schedule departure are not eligible for a refund, where instead the ticket remains in open status for future use.
JetBlue Cancellation Policy: Type of tickets
JetBlue Standard Tickets
All customers will have 24 hours from the time of their original booking to cancel their reservation without being charged a cancellation fee, regardless of the fare selected. This is applicable if your booking is made 7 or more days prior to your departure.
If you no-show for your flight and do not change or cancel prior to the scheduled departure, all money associated with the segment is forfeited.
If you purchased your flight with TrueBlue points, the points that you used to purchase the fare will be deposited back into your TrueBlue account.
JetBlue Refundable Tickets
Another option is to purchase a refundable ticket. While this option can be significantly more expensive, it comes with the added flexibility that if you do need to cancel your flight, your refund will be processed in full to the original form of payment, as opposed to receiving future flight credit.
JetBlue Mosaic Members
JetBlue has just 1 tier of elite status — Mosaic. You can qualify for Mosaic status by earning 15,000 base flight points within a calendar year or by flying 30 segments plus 12,000 base flight points within a calendar year. Base flight points are the 3x points per dollar spent that you earn on JetBlue flights. In addition to a handful of other benefits, fees for same-day switches are waived for Mosaic members and all others on their itinerary.
Award tickets change or cancelation
Unfortunately, when you want to change or cancel an award ticket booked with TruBlue points the cancellation fee will be determined by the cash value of your ticket.
For example, if you spotted a deal and used let’s say 11,000 TrueBlue points for a $158 worth flight you will need to pay a $150 cash fee to cancel or change that flight.
JetBlue award tickets change or cancelation
Unfortunately, when you want to change or cancel an award ticket booked with TruBlue points the cancellation fee will be determined by the cash value of your ticket.
For example, if you spotted a deal and used let’s say 11,000 TrueBlue points for a $158 worth of flight you will need to pay a $150 cash fee to cancel or change that flight.
If you booked your flight through a third-party travel agency like Kayak or Expedia, the same applies. Most online travel agents have adjusted their policies to match the airlines’. However, you should contact the travel agency first to request your refund.
If you used credit card points and portals like Chase Ultimate Rewards Travel Portal or Amex Travel there are some flights that you may be able to cancel online.
Despite that, you still may have to contact your bank provider directly to request a refund.
Reasons behind JetBlue Cancellation.
- In the course of a pandemic, the JetBlue Carrier was hit hard, advising state and federal officials to sit at home in many situations to slow the spread of the virus.
- JetBlue Airways revealed Sunday to staff that it planned to cancel 100 flights.
- This week it runs within half its usual period as its service shrinks to satisfy the reduced demand for traveling passengers.
- JetBlue Airline has slowed its schedules as the coronavirus threatens to drain travel demand and attempts to suppress it.
- Travelers and airlines are pursuing government assistance of some USD 58 billion, half of it in cash subsidies and the rest in loans.
- The vote in procedural vote failed on a major incentive plan intended to combat the effect of a virus on the US economy, which contained only JetBlue Airline loans.
Compensation for Cancellation & Delay:
For the delay or cancellation in flight from the side of the airline, you are eligible for compensation. If you have booked the ticket directly through JetBlue airline: An email will be sent to you within 7 days of flight departure if you are eligible for compensation.
- If the cancellation announcement is done within 4 hours, then the compensation amount is $50.
- If the cancellation announcement is after scheduled departure, then the compensation amount is $100.
