What is a Kidney Stone?
Kidney stones are solid bodies made up of deposits inside your kidneys. This material builds up and forms a hard mass. There are four types of stones, with about 80% of them being made of calcium oxalate. Strut, cystine, and uric acid are less common types.
Even smaller stones can pass through urine and not cause a problem. If they travel along pathways, however, they can cause pain and discomfort. Larger stones can block your urinary tract and cause obstructions as they travel to your body. This can lead to severe pain, vomiting, and even bleeding.
