Curbside Check-in, at the airport.
For domestic flights, you can select curbside check-in at the airport. However, there are a few exceptions. Some airlines, such as Virgin America, offer curbside check-in.
You’ll need a mobile phone or printed boarding pass to check-in for your flight. Read on to learn more. This is the Southwest Airlines Check-in Policy. You can choose between curbside and express check-in.
Curbside check-in is an excellent option if you’re in a hurry, but you’ll have to wait in line for about an hour. Most airports have lines outside the terminal. You’ll need to check your bags there at least three hours before your flight and your photo ID to verify your identity.
Generally, it’s best to check-in online at least 24 hours before your flight, but it’s also possible to pick up a boarding pass at the airport. You’ll need to be there 30 minutes before your flight departure and arrive at the gate at least 10 minutes before your scheduled time.
Curbside check-in is offered by many airlines, including Southwest. It’s free, but you’ll have to show some identification. You’ll also need to bring your reservation code, photo ID, and boarding pass.
When you book your flight online, you can select a discounted fare, collect your boarding pass, and even check in online at the airport.
NOTE: The only downside to curbside check-in is that you have to be there 30 minutes before departure.
Southwest Airlines Boarding Priority
Southwest Airlines Boarding Priority is an elite status that benefits its members. In addition to the benefits of A-List membership, passengers receive priority check-in, priority security lane, and board in groups of five.
While this benefit is common to all elite status programs, Southwest does not offer assigned seating. Those who choose this option can expect to board in the first-class cabin. A Southwest airline boarder can get a seat in the A group during peak boarding hours as early as possible.
For those who can board the plane two or more hours before departure, Southwest allows a fee-free change of flight. The fee-free cancellation policy is still valid, but you cannot add or remove a reserved seat.
Unless you have checked a bag and have a boarding pass, you can use the Express Bag Drop service at sixteen Southwest airports. You can print a boarding pass ahead of time or text or email it to yourself for your convenience.
Buy Early Bird Check-In up to 24 hours prior to departure. You can do this online or at the ticket counter. The earlier you purchase, the more likely you will be in the first-class cabin.
If you prefer a window or aisle seat, this option is recommended. This is your best bet if you want a seat next to a bathroom.
NOTE: Buying Early Bird Check-In is a great way to guarantee yourself a first-class seat.
