What is the Amazon Review Request Button?
Amazon recently added the “Request a Review” button to the Order Details page of Seller Central. This has raised a lot of concerns for sellers.
An update to Amazon’s Communication Guidelines was also published in November of this year. This article will go over both changes regarding third-party sellers.
How Does Amazon’s Review Request Button Work?
To request a review use Request a Review button, and sign in to the Seller Central account.
Visit your Manage Orders page and select the order you’d like to review. Click on the order to navigate to the Order Details page, and you’ll see the option located on the right-hand side of the page.
When you click on the click, Amazon will send seller feedback as well as a request for review to the purchaser of your purchase. The message will instantly translate to the buyer’s preferred language.
It is not possible to send a second communication to the customer once that initial inquiry has already been made. Requests are only accepted within 5 to 30 days after the order has been shipped. Buyers are not able to respond to messages.
It is important to note that it’s a manual process which means the seller is not able to modify the message delivered in an email to the purchaser.

Even though the content on Seller Central recommends requesting Amazon reviews using this method, the option of asking for reviews and feedback through the Amazon Buyer-Seller Messaging service is permitted.
It is crucial to adhere to Amazon’s Communication Guidelines when you are communicating with buyers.

- Promotional or marketing messages.
- “[Important]” in the subject line, if the message isn’t required for the completion of the purchase.
- An opt-out option for messages.
- Links or attachments aren’t required for the completion of the order.
- Logos that show the URL of your site or link site.
- Anything that differs from the reason for the contact you have selected from the Contact Buyer page if you send your message from Seller Central.
Amazon insists that you can’t ask buyers to write a favorable review in any form that includes product packaging. Also, you cannot request customers who have been pleased with your item to write a review.
