5 Bucket List Treks in Nepal

Everest Base Camp 

Everest Base Camp has been on the bucket list of almost every trekker and mountaineer out there. There are different categories of treks within the Everest Area out of which Everest base camp is one of them. The thrill of climbing till the base of the world’s highest mountain is beyond description. This is a once in a lifetime achievement for everybody on earth and hence. A lot of enthusiastic people from all over the world visit EBC. EBC receives a lot of crowd all throughout the year, despite that you can totally immerse yourself with the silence of the valleys. The base village is Lukla which is just a 30 min airplane ride away from Kathmandu and probably the most adventurous flying experience of your life. The trek is challenging and requires you travel in groups if you are not used to trek in the mountains alone. 

Nar Phu Valley

This is a hidden experience everyone looks forward to in the mountains. Nar Phu valley’s spectacular views and wide open landscape will sweep you off your feet with its stunningness. Located in the interior region between Manaslu and Annapurna, Nar Phu is the unexpected treasure you find while on the quest. The ancient HImalayan and Buddhist culture echoes through these Himalayan valleys displaying the ultimate rawness of the mountains. The trek lasts for 9 days starting from Koto/Pisang where you will experience and witness the primitive Tibetan culture still persisting in the region. However, this hidden trek is considered to be challenging one regardless of its moderate height of 5200 m. 

Annapurna Base Camp

This is one of the most popular treks of Nepal. The trek encapsulates the diverse nature, landscapes, terrains of Nepal. The Annapurna Base Camp trek easily makes it to the eight thousanders club with a doubt. The maximum elevation achieved in ABC is 8091m which is equally beautiful and risky for the trekkers and adventurers. The entire 67 km long  trek goes on for 10 -11 days where you cover 10 km per day.

This enchanting trek trail will surprise you with thick dense Annapurna forest, rivers, snowclad Machapuchare , Annapurna I, Gangpurna, Annapurna glacier. And flowery valleys. The trek ranges between  moderate to difficult in the scale of difficulty. There are tons of preparations that need to be taken care of beforehand due to the extravagant height covered in the trek. Oxygen cylinders, oximeters, high altitude first aid kit, trekking gears, and many more. The pure grandness and breathtaking views of the Himalayas is bound to leave you speechless. 

Upper Mustang

The arid beige deserts of the Upper Mustang possess history and culture as old as time. The region was the Buddhist Kingdom known as Lo Manthang in the early ages. This mysterious land was isolated from the rest of the world for quite some time which led to the region developing its own unique culture. Unlike the rest of the trek terrain and landscapes in Nepal, Mustang is the rain shadow of the Himalayas with beige topography and beautiful cliffs. The trekkers often visit Upper Mustang during the summers to escape rains. The trek takes 12 days to complete and begins from Jomsom with a maximum elevation of 3800 m. 

Manaslu Circuit Trek

Getting to Besisahar/Khoti which is the base for Manaslu Circuit is an 8-hour drive from Kathmandu. This is one of the most standard, classic, conventional treks one would expect in the Himalayas. The snowclad mountain peaks, the infinite lush valleys, and the wide open landscapes travel through La Larkya pass which remains intact despite receiving a lot of tourist traffic every year. Manaslu circuit lasts for 13 days where the maximum elevation achieved is 5000m with challenging terrain and trek trails. Over the past decade, there have been new developments in the accommodation facilities near the region which has made it easier for tourists.
